The gorgeous blues singing Katherine Davis joins us today to talk about her passion for the Blues, it’s healing qualities, and her love for music of all kinds.

Here in Chicago, Katherine Davis’ name is synonymous with blues music. Not only is she distinguished as a singer, but also as a oral historian who travels the world talking about her experience in growing up in the iconic Cabrini Green projects.

Cabrini Green was one of the first successful housing projects that in the late 60’s began to suffer from urban decay. Many people believe that a lot this stemmed from the consequences of the asassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and the subsequent riots that followed. Cabrini Green is also know as the setting for the popular 70’s television show Good Times, that portrayed a black family struggling to make it in the urban landscape. Read more…
