Alexis Whitham! It’s that time of the year, time to get your tickets to Reeling, the fabulous Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival. The second oldest film festival of it’s kind, Reeling prides itself in putting together some edgy, fun and unique queer inspired movies that you just wont see anywhere else.

The film festival attracts thousands of theater going folks from around the Midwest to see the large array of films dedicated to exposing new and promising work as well as identifying trends, issues and ideas that shape the world around us, and define who we are as GLBT people.

On today’s show we’re talking to the fabulous Alexis Whitham, marketing and PR director for Reeling. We were having a great discussion in Alexis’ office about how to best promote the film festival on the podcast, when it became obvious to us that it would be great to have Alexis herself on the show since she was at ground zero in the planning and promoting of all the great films. We get into the nitty gritty of many of the films in the festival, talking about time traveling trannies, teenage gays and bears, oh my!

Brett Chuckerman and Tad Hilgenbrink from "The Curiosity of Chance"Listen to the show for details on how you can win a pair of tickets to the closing night screening of “Curiosity of Chance” starring the super sexy and cute Tad Hilgenbrink (who played Sean William Scott’s younger brother in “American Pie Presents: Band Camp”) and the kissable Brett Chukerman (who played Jim Verraros’ boyfriend in “Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds”.)

Brett, Marc Felion and me Fausto Fernós are heading over to the End of the Festival Celebration on Sunday Nov. 18 to check out the musical styling of New York Jazz great Mercedes Hall (mother of 80s pop icon Anthony Michael Hall) Tickets for the whole thing go for $45. Did I mention there’s an open bar? See you there! Click here to get your tickets for the event.

Click here for a complete schedule of all the films in the festival.

We see social inequality everywhere. As much as it may upset us sometimes, there always is a certain amount of frustration, because we don’t know how to address the situation or even if it’s any of our business.
