DJ Bobo, “Vampires Are Alive”

By John Q. Sanchez on October 23, 2007

This Gothish toe-tapper was Switzerland’s entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Can you believe it didn’t make it to the finals? But it still could go on to become this century’s “Monster Mash.”

Also seasonal: Shirley Bassey does Pink. One killjoy told me this video looks like it should be a Halloween commercial for Target, but so what?

Listener Troy has totally flipped for this clip, the grand finale from an 80s afterschool special, starring Rob Stone from Mr. Belvedere and Wallace Langham from the Larry Sanders Show. Advisory: Don’t jump off warehouse roofs. Also: earworm!
And more: Troy’s also over the moon for “Starbucks Rejection Tour,” a short culture-hacking documentary starring “kooky crooner” […]

Look at this lovely 1970s nugget of Bowie and Cher singing a duet of medley songs. No, that’s not Grace Jones, it’s CHER. Yes, it’s as messy as it sounds. —Fausto Fernós

Shirley Bassey, better known as the campy voice behind such hits as the “Theme from Goldfinger” and “History Repeating” has recently put out her own 70-year-old spin on Pink’s hit song “Get This Party Started.”
It’s hard to imagine the diva is 70. One would think Shirley’s idea of a party would be shuffleboard, pinching your […]

  • Still Punk

Ssion’s ‘Still Punk’ directed by Cody Critcheloe features a Godzilla-like Tina Pee Pee aka Jaimie Warren searching for the right pair of shoes in which to thunderously walk the planet. It delivers pretty much the same message as Kelly’s “Shoes” video but in 1/7th of the time and I’m guessing at a very small […]
