Out of the many hilarious characters that local comedian Richard Knight, Jr. developed, probably the most memorable has been that of “Dick O’Day.” Donning a LOUD yellow suit and double eyeglasses (having two glasses helps him to see better he says) Dick O’Day appeared on the 90’s public television program Wild Chicago. The program touched on the beginning wave of reality television which had Dick running around town talking to the eccentric, loud, and of course wild.
That show was the Blondie to our Madonna.

Although the subject matter was pretty tame, it was the humanity and eccentricity that Richard Knight Jr. brought to his segments that made them a perennial favorite with viewers and critics alike. Two of his segments for Wild Chicago won Emmy awards for local television programming.

Richard also is well known for being the ringmaster for the Brazillian Pop band Samba Bamba which had one of our former guests Jen Zias as a regular singer.
