Chris GarneauCome listen to the music! Gregg Shapiro comes over to chat with Marc and me about the Alt Q Music Festival at the Old Town School of Folk Music, hosted by our good friend Scott Free. This is the Festival’s 7th year and it seems like it get better with each passing year. The Festival brings in top and emerging gay artists from around the world and it also showcases a couple of great Chicago acts.

The wonderful thing about going to the Alt Q Music festival is that it provies you with a way to lose yourself in the music and presence of great GLBT musicians. It’s one of the best acoustic spaces in Chicago paired up with a great line up of musical acts.

The locals taking the stage this year are perennial local favorites Tom Yore and the fun duo Actor Slash Model. Tom Yore is coming out of semi-retirement to preform songs from his new album “9 Songs 4 Improved Mental Health. Check out this blast from the past Tom Yore’s Switch Commercial we did for the live Feast of Fools show. Actor Slash Model is a hot homo queer tranny lo-fi bluegrass duo that’s just emerging onto the scene. Remember, you heard them here FIRST on the Gay Fun Show!

We’re very excited to see Chris Garneau perform. Wait till you hear his voice! You’d never guess that otherwordly voice came out of this very hot man (pictured here). Plus, you got to love his pics with the super soaker. We appreciate that he’s trying to protect the world from alien intrusions, but why couldn’t he do it naked or at least in a wet T-shirt? Come on, give your fans what they want.

Scott’s also importing a couple of Irish lassie-bians known as Zrazy. We just love saying their peculiar name! I’m zrazy for Zrazy. I just can’t keep the song “Zrazy for lying, zrazy for zrying, zrazy for zreeling zo blue” out of my head.

This show is jam packed with top-shelf queer indie music!. Just click through the links to get their stuff into your iPod.

Don’t let the name fool you, the Old Town School of Folk Music is not in Old Town and does do other types of music other than folk music. Please visit our sponsor Soy Candles By Phebes and pick out some nice eco friendly triple scented soy based candles. Just in time for Mother’s Day!

Here is a related interview with lesbian folk music legend, Ferron.

This was a great show!!!

the music is amazing, specially Hedwig’s (I mean Chris’) music. Greg knows so much about indie music, he’s great.

very funny episode also, I’m trying to make people listen to the show, I’m convincing all my bilingual friends (I’m in México, so not that many people understand fluent english)

Actor/Model are so funny, it’s great that you’re bringing them over to the show!

I love the show more everyday!!!

What is the number of the Ferron show? I cannot find the link you mentioned.

Here’s the link to the ferron show, enjoy!

Loved this show. XXOO

Chris’s music is so dark. Very good voice almost like an angel is singing to you!

see you geys soon Love you all!!

Are you coming to the Alt Q show in Chicago, Boston Bill?

Bees are animals, and as a beekeeper bees aren’t hurt or harmed collecting wax. Or at least responsible beekeepers won’t hurt the bees! P’d off hives of bees leave and go elsewhere :)

The only wax collected is that where the honey is collected, which is surplus to what the hive actually needs!

Yes! We will be there. It was great last year. Damn, Toshi Reagon can sing. Thanks for the appetizer…

We’ll be there!
