He is so GAY- Gen. Peter Pace! (No, he's not a porn star.)Yes, Peter Pace is his real name, and no, he’s not a porn star. General Peter Pace is President Bush Jr’s top advisor to the American invasion of Iraq. You know how popular that is, so WHY on earth is the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business inviting this moron over to speak at their school on “management?” Is he going to say “don’t do what I do.”

This is the guy who when asked by the Chicago Tribune what he thought about the U.S. Military’s policy on gays and lesbians, he replied;

“I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts… I do not believe the United States is well served by a policy that says it is OK to be immoral in any way.”

Now Gen. Peter stuck his foot in his mouth after he had been invited by the University, but come on! Why is the Graduate School of Business “staying the course” and keeping this guy as a guest speaker?

I have worked in many companies that have been run by incompetent people who have no business pulling strings. One thing you learn from being in that kind of environment is how not to run things. That situation doesn’t show you what works, only what doesn’t work. Maybe that’s why the American public is so hungry to be lifted beyond our bottom feeder leadership and is biting to figure out who the next Presidential candidates are going to be, even though we are a year-and-a-half away from the next election.

Who dies for a pile of lies? Go check out the protest against General Peter Pace on Friday May 18th at 11AM in front the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 151 E. Wacker Drive (about 1 block east of Michigan Avenue). Put that one into your palm pilot!
If you can’t make the protest, sign the petition by clicking here.

I know some of you people who listen to the show who work in the Hollywood Hills film industry really should put out a new star with the name General Peter Pace. I think it would be “hawt.”

Check out todays show as Andy Thayer from the Gay Liberation Network and Tim Stewart-Winter from the University of Chicago come over to talk about activism, gay culture and politics, and the War/Invasion of Iraq.

We need a new word to describe this concept of community known as “GLBT,” “Queer” or “LGBT.”Whatever you want to call this alphabet soup, we need someone to come up with an open-source word to describe it. Why not pick up an IKEA catalog as inspiration for a new word to describe us all?

Here are some good IKEA-nese words: FEMMEN VÅG, KVART, or LILLHOMEN? (That last one is a toilet brush.)

Are bees screwing up our cell phone reception? I just want to know. The iPhone is just around the corner and I want to know if I better start eating more honey.

Great show Marc and Fausto. I really like to identify as queer… I think its a really fun word, something about q words. anyways peter pace sux and so do harris bank and UoC for supporting this murderer… who is scarier… peter pace or brian sloan….

I just signed the petition. There are only a little over 1,300 signatures. Come on. It’s simple. Just a few clicks.

Queer! That’s perfect. It’s all inclusive… like ‘Gringos’ for English-speaking people trying to learn Spanish. I like it better than gay- which really refers to the men. Pace, W., et al, are just pushing the US into being an ex-empire a little faster. And in a dark way, that might be a good thing - so start learning Mandarin or Hindi, people! Tighten up your belts, folks - the US empire is imploding and its people and leaders are supporting its demise! AND the best thing about cicadas is they put you to sleep with their buzzing, IF you have no A/C…

And yes! Sign the petition and participate in the protest if you’re in Chicago!

err… you do know that internet petitions never ever work? >_>;

i haven’t listened to the show yet but it sounds good.

and bees aren’t messing with us. we are messing with bees, and killing them off by using cellphones and other electronic devices that transmits..stuff…like cellphones do. and no bees=no pollination which = no plants which = no lots of other things. i mean bees aren’t the only providers but it would be bad if we killed too many of them off. by using cellphones.

Online petitions work best when they are directed at a specific target that can do something about a specific situation, IF they depend on public opinion for their own welfare. In this case it might have an impact, since its two public institutions invovled here (the University of Chicago and the U.S. Military) and the target is specific (the petition asks the school to withdraw their invitation of Gen. Peter).

From Snopes:

No matter what else can be said against cyber petitions (and so far we’ve said a great deal), they do serve one actual valuable purpose: They can sometimes be useful tools with which to acquaint folks with situations they might otherwise have little, if any, knowledge of.

Since transgender is not about sexual orientation, yet gay, lesbian, bi, and possibly queer (GLBTQ), the encompassing word should not be about sexual orientation, but about us being different from the heteros or those who never had a gender dysphoria or problem in gender identification. I propose “Difr” in keeping with Fausto’s line of Flickr, Frappr, Crappr, etc.

I love “DIFR” I’m going to Ikea right now to get one!

Hmmmm. Now how do you spell it?

Diffr? DIFFUR? DARFOUR?

I signed. What can it hurt? Number 1,369, baby!

As someone who appreciates the same-sex partner benefits provided by the U of C, AND participates in the school’s LGBTQ mentoring program, AND enjoys the company of some very delightful G and L coworkers, I am really dismayed to hear about this…

grumble.

DIFR pride!
(Did you notice, that’s the first four letters of DiFranco… coincidence?)

I remember hearing this southern Black minister on the radio, who referred to a lesbian acquaintance as “same-gender-loving.” Very genteel sounding. Kind of takes all the fun out of it.

I second the diffr

The cicadas came in 2004. I think we are safe. :)

Excellent show guys!

I’ve been hearing on the news that the cicadas are coming.
I like diffr but can anyone else come up with something?

In a fit of political activism i think i got at least 15 people to sign up. After the first time it was like my own special little OCD compulsion. AFter # 1371-1387…this requires a Frank Caliendo: “YAY ME!”

Glad to hear more about anti-war activism and also more about anti-DADT. News about Anna Nicole Smith just doesn’t drive me to the plaza in the same way that news about Peter Pace can! And by the way… Is Peter a little too hott for his own damn good?

Mega-dittoes to Patricia’s comments on ex-empire.

I signed the petition, too, even tho’ I’m in the penumbra of the prestigious U of Chicago.

SS

Ex- Empire is not a bad idea at all and not something to fear. It doesn’t have to be doom and gloom.
As any bottom will tell you, being on top is not always the best position. If we can just cooperate
and respect each other, we’ll be fine. We don’t need to be an empire to happy and have a good life.

Hold on - does anybody have a good sense of what benefits we get from imperialism? How much of our current standard of living do we owe to our size and power on the world stage? How much are you willing to give up to be ex-empire?

Right now, I’m thinking of two things in particular. First, do you think other countries would be as willing to invest in the US, were it not for our strength? Second, would we see the influx of skilled immigrants in fields like engineering and medicine if we were second-rate?

ok I found no cicadas recipies but there is a book by David George Gordon called ‘the eat a bug cookbook’ and that cicadas are from the order Homoptera. Just a foolish thought on my part but mabe the Bees are dying off from I B S caused by all the franken crops that have been growing here in the last few years?

hmm. this podcast informed me very little (since I’m a reader of things not celeb based), but it also annoyed me. and not in a good way, it was a fun podcast but I have some questions for the gentlemen you interviewed. then again I may just be a bitch…lol.
