The desire for sex drives technology forward. Photography, film, video, Quicktime movies, online commerce and most internet technologies owe their very existence to the immediate human need for sexual stimulation. The need for faster, quicker, easier methods of delivering sexual gratification has had repercussions throughout the internet and the technologies that support it. After all, would we really need so many digital cameras if we weren’t sending so many private pictures?
When I first went online on AOL in 1995, I was in disbelief that I could really talk with people anywhere about anything. My primary fear of being taken advantage of was quickly overtaken by the desire to meet up with a sexy hot man. Although in those days, meeting people was an awkward thing to do since most people lacked the ability to store or create a photo of themselves online in order to gage just what you were getting.
The internet has permanently changed the way everyone thinks about themselves and has given people everywhere the ability to understand who they are as people and to declare unequivocally “I am gay.”
One of the remarkable things is the way that gay people and their friends have come together to build enormous communities online. The reason why this is remarkable is because it lacks national boundaries and in many ways might be more inclusive than your “bricks and mortar” communities. But the big drawback to life online is that it lacks the physical contact and personal interaction that meeting somebody in person provides. You miss out out on so much valuable no- verbal communication when you live a life on line. So how can you can you find a good balance?
Join us today as we talk to author and accidental internet expert Jack Mauro about his brand new book- M4M For an Hour or Forever: The Gay Man’s Guide to Finding Love Online.
In M4M Mauro puts together a fabulous collection of ideas, tips and tricks to helping you get that hottie you’ve been checking out. But in many ways, Mauro’s principles can apply to anything from looking for work to promoting your online content. The key idea is putting yourself in your audience’s shoes and stating who you REALLY are and what you are looking to get.

May 16, 2007 at 06:57Got to say, men - aside from the guest sounding TOO GAY FOR WORDS, you get the feeling he had a blast doing it, and really appreciated how welcoming and fun his two hawt hosts were.
PS He did.
PPS Marc’s pics seem to have a younger Chris Noth thing going. I think I’m in trouble…
