Paris Hilton breaks out of jailSomebody must have snuck in a file inside a cake! Believe it or not, Paris Hilton is out of jail. She didn’t break out however. The 24 year old hotel heiress (not affiliated with the Hilton Hotel chain according to the chain) is out on a medical condition and will be spending the rest of her 40 day sentence under house arrest, or in her case mansion arrest.

UPDATE: Paris’ release from jail might be a little short lived, as she is now being asked to return to court.

Who wants to buy a “Free Paris Hilton” t-shirt now?

Gregg Shapiro and some of the fabulous books he brought home from the 2007 Book ExpoBooks, books and more books! We are surrounded by dozens of great new book releases on today’s show.

Our in-house literary aficionado Gregg Shapiro just got back from the 2007 Book Expo in Washington D.C. and brought back a slew of wacky and weird book titles to tititlate your literary senses and make you feel like civilization is about to end.

Featured books on todays show:
Old Jewish Comedians by Drew Friedman
Star Wars Pop-up by George Lucas
Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel
Clueless George Goes to War by Pat Bagley
Selfish and Perverse by Bob Smith
Elton: The Biography by David Buckley
What Do Gay Men Want? by David Halperin
Humble Little Condom: A History by Aine Collier
Who Stole the Funny? by Robby Benson
The Grand Illusion: Love, Lies, and My Life With Styx by Chuck Panozzo
Woof!: A Gay Man’s Guide to Dogs by Andrew De Prisco (Author), Jason O’Malley (Illustrator)
The Portable Jewish Mother by Laurie Rozakis

Always breaking new ground, the Star Wars pop-up book comes complete with fake instructions on how to perfom the gruesome surgery to attach your face into a Darth Vader-like mask. It’s really a work of art as it comes complete with glowing lightsabers powered by a built in battery and lots of in-depth examination of the characters behind the popular George Lucas film series. Honestly, after seeing this book, I only want to read books in pop-up form.

It’s Seann William Scott!

Alison Bechdel is a goddess! Fun Home is a seriously kick-ass book — a rewarding read on so many levels. I laughed, I cried, I did the hokey pokey and I turned myself around…

Seriously, it’s a memoir about her relationship with her dad, who ran the family funeral parlor and was an English professor (with some other secret extracurriculars on the side), and about her own coming out process. It’s littered with gay and/or literary allusions. Great storytelling.

And it just came out in paperback. Run, don’t walk, to your nearest locally-owned independent feminist bookstore, and buy a copy today! (god, I’m such a lesbian)

Dude that’s another show (yesterdays show).

I personally recommend any book by Bob Smith. He was raised in a family who believed that anything could be funny, no matter how out of the norm.

When you first mentioned “Woof!”, I thought you were talking about “Woof! Perspectives into the Erotic Care & Training of the Human Dog” by Michael Daniels, featuring a short story by yours truly. I think “Woof!: A Gay Man’s Guide to Dogs” sounds like a great book, but can you imagine the hilarity when Amazon mixes the two titles up during shipping? LOL!

I enjoyed the book talk on today’s show! I know I’ve been MIA for a while and am just blown away by the new site and community FoF has built up in that interval. You guys are just awesome!

Greg Shapiro is a Renaissance man. Movies, music, and books. It is always great to hear him on the show. Plus he is cute and has a sexy voice.

Brandon is that really you! Welcome back!!

It’s definitely me, Fausto! I need to catch up with the show!

I agree with Cliff Dix…………..Greg’s voice drives me nuts.
