Fausto tries on Tina Torch's silicone breastsSal-E loves his margaritias!Boy do we have a lot of flavor for you today. On today’s show we’re joined by Sal-E and plus-size drag queen and spokes-model Tina Torch about surviving the U.S. health care system and what it’s like to go into the hospital.

Back in the day Tina Torch was a big flame. She used to weigh 450 plus pounds. After many visits to the doctor, a rigorous diet and exercise plan, Tina was able to lose enough weight to qualify for a gastric bypass surgery. I had no idea you actually had to lose weight to be able to carry the procedure.

Today Tina looks fabulous and weighs around 250 lbs. She’s happily partnered with Geremy, a cop by night and punk rock singer for the band Rotten Fruits.

Photo of Fausto and his mom Patricia, taken at a Feast of Fools Live Show, April 2001 by Sukie DelaCroixI personally am so relived to know that my mom Patricia Fernós is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery. Over a month ago my mom went into the hospital for hip surgery and unfortunately had some complications, one of them was she suffered a stroke the next day after the surgery.

This past month has been an anxious time for me and my family as my mom has worked hard to recuperate from the stroke and the surgery to be able to continue her rehabilitation at home. Today mom returns home! Oh happy day. Pictured on the left here is a photo of me and my mom taken from the live show in 2001 by Sukie Delacroix.

omg those things are HUGE. wow.

Fausto - so glad to hear about your mum. I’m keeping her and you in my thoughts!!!

I haven’t listened yet but I am thrilled to hear about your mom. We all knew she would pull through!

Hi Fausto! Thanks for playing my song! :) I guess I didn’t realize I hadn’t ever mentioned my real name–Alejandro Gallegos. I had to laugh when the show notes listed “Fructose Cornsyrup” as the featured music. I’m working on some other songs too so as soon as I get those done I’ll share them with you to see what you think. My myspace is http://www.myspace.com/barisax26 if you’d like to check out my page. I’ll probably be posting stuff on there as soon as I get it. Glad to hear about your mom too!

Patricia,
So good to hear your voice again. I am glad you are well on your way to recovery. FOF is an extended family and you are our mom. So get well and remember we are all behind you.
Much love,
Cliff

Cliff is right — we’ve all adopted you as our FOF den mother. Patricia, it is so good to hear that you’re recovering and you’re back at home. Sending lots of love!

Hi Patricia,

It’s great to hear your voice on the show again. Hope everything is going well. Make sure you get plenty of rest and take things one day at a time.

Love,
John

Patricia you sounded great today. Glad you’re on the mend. Take care.

oh, 1 more thing. Tina, I’ve lived in Massachusetts my entire life and have NEVER seen a moose. They live way up in like Maine and N.H. Many hours from here, so don’t be afraid and come on over !!

With you living in Mass. I’m surprised the whole world isn’t rushing over there! :)

Great show as always… but the highlight for me was hearing from Patricia. I’m so glad she’s doing well. She is so very loved– by you and the rest of us as well.

Tina Torch was a hoot. And those boobs… holy moley. I’m a big boy and they’re three of ME! I can’t imagine she doesn’t have a major backache after wearing those monsters. Dolly Parton eat your heart out! :)

Thanks Fausto, but I don’t think anyone is rushing here now that Tina Torch outed the over population problem of Moose in Boston.
Hey, I made that midori white wine sangria for friends over the weekend. Everybody really liked it. Wasn’t sure how much of each ingredient to use so I just improvised and it came out great.

I don’t know about moose, but we have lots + lots of bear in Boston. I’m happy your mom is doing well; she sounded fantastic on the podcast. By the way, the TV show ‘St. Elsewhere’ was set in Boston, and the building which was used in the opening credits is located in Boston as well, although it was never a hospital.

Patricia I just saw your picture. Wow you are one beautiful woman. I have a question for you. You said on the show that your memory seemed to have improved after the stroke. I am wondering if you find any other channels of the mind, psyche also opening up. Especially since the stroke is a physical manifestation of something going on in brain. A lot of people after an illness speak of new channels opening up. Fausto said ” you now have super powers” and that got me thinking.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. Like you felt more clairvoyant or clairsencient. More attuned to energy fields around people, intuitive ? Do let me know if you have had any such experiances.

Very happy to know you are in such good post surgery / stroke health. You sounded great.

Love and Light

Tina from Hong Kong.
