Alpana Singh opens the show with a delicious cocktail recipe she now calls “Feast of Pineapple.” Alpana, as you may remember is the host of the Emmy Award winning television show “Check Please” which airs on public television in Chicago. The show features a round table discussion on local restaurants. The show’s guests eat at each other’s favorite places to dine and later, they gather to talk about their experiences, sometimes good and sometimes bad.
We love having author of “Alpana Pours,” Alpana Singh in the house. She’s so much fun and today she brought her sidekick Jason Steele, a writer for Redeye Chicago, a free daily paper run by the Tribune.
Alpana and Jason are here to promote Taste and Find a Mate. It is a singles mixer and wine tasting event and yes, you can TASTE a potential mate at the event. We only ask that if you’re going to do some “mate tasting” you put on a floor show with excessive tongue whirling and some unseemly groping. Nothing says “I’d like a little action” like a wine tasting event, because after all, Alpana says “If you can’t get laid at a wine tasting event, you just can’t get laid.” Gee, I wonder why she became one of the youngest Master Sommeliers ever. We’ll be there so please come join us!
Jason Steele from RedEye Chicago has noticed a peculiar trend for bachelorette or hen parties- the are going to the gay bars. Hetero bridal parties, sometimes obnoxious, are invading our gay bars in search of fun, hot men and a sexually ambiguous time before tying the knot. At question is how we deal with this phenomenon as a community: do we ban them from the bars are do we embrace their silly antics and support their marriage while we can’t share in the same right? We’d love to hear from you, the listener if you have ever encountered one of these bachelorette parties in your favorite gay watering hole and how you felt about it.
Check out Jason’s “Boy on Boystown” column online.
Remember Jaimie Bell, star from the movie “Billy Eliot?” Well, he’s all grown up! British tabloids report that Jaime was anxious about getting naked in front of a 30 man crew for his new movie “Hallam Foe” and that he wanted to wear a sock to cover his member. The director said no and poor Jamie had to bare it all in front of the cameras.
Don’t you think Jamie would be even more anxious to have a press release sent out reporting this? And what is it about Hollywood that they feel they have to issue press releases about stars’ members? First, it was Colin Farrell and his supposedly oversized schlongenthaller that had to be cut out of a scene because it was too distracting for the audience. Well, we all saw the sex video tape that he made with that super model and while it was OK, we’d hardly classify it as “distracting.” Second, the movie makers claimed that they had to digitally remove some of the bulge in the latest incarnation of the Superman movie franchise because it was too much. Personally, I’d like to know who in Hollywood gets that job of deciding how much is too much? Nice work if you can get it.
The podcast that tastes great and doesn’t fill you up with anything but good times- Feast of Fools!
