600 Podcast Poster!Yes, we’ve done 600 shows. Can you believe it? Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday that Marc, Taylor E. Ross and I were huddled around a old fashioned looking condenser mic discussing the Superbowl 2005 commercials and reading from PetoftheDay.com about a delightfully happy hamster. Boy how some things change and yet still remain the same. If you count our videos, live performances and other various shenanigans, we’ve clocked more hours on a microphone than Lindsay Lohan, Liz Taylor and Carrie Fisher has spent in rehab combined.

The past few years have been a deeply challenging and rewarding time for me personally as I lost my father and saw my mother suffer a stroke. It’s also been very rewarding as the Feast of Fools Podcast has grown and we’ve won some fantastic awards, garnered a bit of recognition and made some good friends along the way. In order to celebrate I’ve made a special 600 poster featuring the album art of many of our past guests framed and ready to hang on your wall. Get it by clicking here.

What are some of your favorite moments from the past 600 shows?

Join Miss Ronnie, Marc Felion and me, Fausto Fernós as we reminisce and dish about our long journey and where we hope to go in the future.

A happy family: Fausto, Bubu and MarcEarlier this week, Marc and I were walking in Andersonville when we came across this cute little light-yellow bird hiding in the bushes. We put up posters around in the area hoping to reunite the baby bird with his home, but nobody called.

We put up an ad on Craig’s List and paired the cute little baby bird with a guy who identified as a Urban Bear from his email address and considering he worked with animals we thought it was a great match.

We came up with many names for the bird- Fluffy, Bubu, Babalú, Baby’s Romance, Chris Garneau, Chirpy, Chupie, Birdie Boy- yet we forgot to consider Tweety as a name for a yellow bird. Go figure.

In the couple of days we lived with Bubu I got close to the bird and it was so hard to say goodbye. When Tony, the Urban Bear asked me what we had named him, he decided to name the bird Fausto after me. I cried a little inside and Marc got nauseous. I miss the little bird.

I know this sounds like the plot of some cheesy nighttime soap opera but it does happen in real life: Leona Helmsley gave almost all her money to her dog. The New York City Real Estate tycoon who made headlines in the 1980s for tax evasion and her icy demeanor upon her death willed the vast majority of her multi-million dollar estate to another bitch, her dog named Trouble.

The dog who once appeared in print ads for the Helmsley Hotels chain earned her name for biting a housekeeper. When the dog dies she’ll be cremated and buried in Leona’s mausoleum, where the happy family’s tomb will be maintained by being washed and steam cleaned at least once a year by her estate.

iBeat Blaxx? TrekStor, the German electronics company came out last week with a terribly named mp3 player has stood it’s ground and so far refused to modify the unsettling name. Next thing you’ll see other players in their line- the iBeat Women, iBeat Gays and iBeat Off.

Also, Sexist Monkeys harass Kenyan villagers, Apple Computer kow-tows to anorexic activists and yet another Republican Senator gets caught with his pants down.

More fruits and nuts than a breakfast buffet- Feast of Fools.

  • Aww guys, I’m welling up here!!! Wishing you very many congratulations on reaching 600 shows…that’s exactly 25 days worth of FOF goodness :) I’m hoping with all my heart we win the People’s Choice…you deserve it so much! xxx

  • Urban Bear… kinda scary lookin’

  • Many congratulations on hitting the “600″ mark. You guys have built a show and a brand that deserves all of the honors it gets–and more. Best wishes on the next 600 shows!

  • Here’s a version of the story on what Larry Craig was doing in the airport bathroom, courtesy of PlanetOut:

    ***
According to the prosecutor’s complaint, obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press, airport police Sgt. Dave Karsnia, who was investigating allegations of sexual conduct in airport restrooms, went into a stall shortly after noon on June 11 and closed the door.

Minutes later, the officer saw Craig gazing into his stall through the crack between the stall door and the frame.

[Some versions of the story quote the officer as saying Craig was standing at a urinal and alternated between looking at the stall and looking back at the wall with his hands at his privates and moving a lot.]

After a man in the adjacent stall left, Craig entered it and put his roller bag against the front of the stall door, “which Sgt. Karsnia’s experience has indicated is used to attempt to conceal sexual conduct by blocking the view from the front of the stall,” said the complaint dated June 25.

The complaint said Craig then tapped his right foot several times and moved it closer to Karsnia’s stall and then moved it to where it touched Karsnia’s foot. Karsnia recognized that “as a signal often used by persons communicating a desire to engage in sexual conduct,” the complaint said.

Craig then passed his left hand under the stall divider into Karsnia’s stall with his palms up and guided it along the divider toward the front of the stall three times, the complaint said.

The officer then showed his police identification under the divider and pointed toward the exit “at which time the defendant exclaimed ‘No!’” the complaint said.

The Aug. 8 police report says that Craig had handed the arresting officer a business card that identified him as a member of the Senate.

“What do you think about that?” Craig is alleged to have said, according to the report.
    ***

What I think about that is, if caught in a situation like that, DON’T give him your card identifying you as a U.S. Senator. For some police officers wanting to make a name for themselves, a big-name target is an aphrodisiac.

As far as my favorite moments, I would have to agree that “15 Minutes” and “F*** You, Jai Rodriguez” are two of my favorite moments.

  • Yeah! 600 Shows! Congratulations on reaching this milestone. You make my day every day of the week.
Hey, someone should check on the Spider House in Austin-Is it still there?

  • Fausto, Marc, Sal-E, Ms. Ronnie, and Amanda:

Congrats on #600! I wish I could say I’ve listened to all 600, but that would be fibbing. Okay, so I’ve listened for the last two years, every episode and look forward to the next 600!

Over these two years, you all have made me smile, laugh out loud, spit gum accross the commuter train, cry, sympathize, relate, and make new friends. I can think of no other podcast that can do that and you don’t need a trophy to prove it, just see who listens! Although having the trophy makes a great conversation piece!

Best of luck, congrats again, and look forward to see you boys and gals at the end of September!

Your #1 So. Cal. power (and kinky) listener,
    Buzz

  • Congrats on your 600th show! I may have started late (somewhere around #123) but I’ve enjoyed being around for everything since then, and plan on being around for the next 600 and beyond!

In that time I’ve gotten to know many of you. And the thing I always tell people when I talk about you is– “What you hear on the shows is real. They are just as warm and friendly and fun in person as you hear every day, five days a week. They’re the hardest working people I know.”

Congratulations on another big milestone. Now let’s go get ‘em in California!!

    Love and Rockets,
    Rick

  • Am I not one of your favorite guests? :( It hurts…lol. Anywho, boys, you know I will be buying one of those posters when I get paid tomorrow! And, where are you guys? I need to you y’all asap!

    Andy

  • Thanks for the 600 so far! Have been with you more than half of the way and still deeply impressed by the quality and quantity of your output. Everybody in the FoF deserves a cuddle and a pat on the back. And my fictional boyfriend Sal-E deserves even more, but I can’t say those things in polite company.

  • Hey Andy! You’re on there! Look at the Flickr image– you’re on the second row from the top, far right side.

  • DUH.. Far LEFT side. Honestly, you’d think at 36 I would be able to tell my right from my left. LOL. :-D

  • Congratulations on no. 600! It’s amazing what you guys have achieved in the past two and a half years… You have arrived!
Thanks for continuing to pursue your podcasting dreams, much to all of our enjoyment.

  • Mazel Tov!
If I knew more Hebrew I’d probably continue flattering you, unfortunately I don’t.
About the old lady that died via camel rape; maybe she wasn’t a GILF but as ugly as a camel, not that they’re particularly unappealing concerning aesthetics though.
Every day it gets better and better, keep it up. And I’ll this comment awkwardly.

  • TrekStor seems to have changed the name of their “iBeat blaxx” already… according to the product info, it’s simply called “blaxx” now.

  • Congrats on the 600th…

I’ve only been listening since last year, but have not missed a show since…. You always make my day better…

    Note to Ms. Ronnie….

You should have a theme song…… particularly when you start talking all Santeria.

all I can think of is the great dance song by

    El Gran Combo - “Brujeria”

“Que tu me tienes temblando de noche y de día (tu me hiciste brujería)
Me quiere mandar para la tumba fría (tu me hiciste brujería)
Brrrrrrrruuuuuja, bruuuuuja, brujita(tu me hiciste brujería)”

    Note to my fellow listeners…..

I BOUGHT MY “DIGITALLY DELICIOUS” T-SHIRT………..HOW ABOUT YOU??????

Lets gets Marc, Fausto, Ms. Ronnie, Amanda & Sal E to Cali…..

    CONE ON PEEPS……… STEP UP!!

  • Congrats guys!

Out of curiosity, what’s happened to Amanda? I haven’t heard her in ages
