Yes, we’ve done 600 shows. Can you believe it? Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday that Marc, Taylor E. Ross and I were huddled around a old fashioned looking condenser mic discussing the Superbowl 2005 commercials and reading from PetoftheDay.com about a delightfully happy hamster. Boy how some things change and yet still remain the same. If you count our videos, live performances and other various shenanigans, we’ve clocked more hours on a microphone than Lindsay Lohan, Liz Taylor and Carrie Fisher has spent in rehab combined.
The past few years have been a deeply challenging and rewarding time for me personally as I lost my father and saw my mother suffer a stroke. It’s also been very rewarding as the Feast of Fools Podcast has grown and we’ve won some fantastic awards, garnered a bit of recognition and made some good friends along the way. In order to celebrate I’ve made a special 600 poster featuring the album art of many of our past guests framed and ready to hang on your wall. Get it by clicking here.
What are some of your favorite moments from the past 600 shows?
Join Miss Ronnie, Marc Felion and me, Fausto Fernós as we reminisce and dish about our long journey and where we hope to go in the future.
Earlier this week, Marc and I were walking in Andersonville when we came across this cute little light-yellow bird hiding in the bushes. We put up posters around in the area hoping to reunite the baby bird with his home, but nobody called.
We put up an ad on Craig’s List and paired the cute little baby bird with a guy who identified as a Urban Bear from his email address and considering he worked with animals we thought it was a great match.
We came up with many names for the bird- Fluffy, Bubu, Babalú, Baby’s Romance, Chris Garneau, Chirpy, Chupie, Birdie Boy- yet we forgot to consider Tweety as a name for a yellow bird. Go figure.
In the couple of days we lived with Bubu I got close to the bird and it was so hard to say goodbye. When Tony, the Urban Bear asked me what we had named him, he decided to name the bird Fausto after me. I cried a little inside and Marc got nauseous. I miss the little bird.
I know this sounds like the plot of some cheesy nighttime soap opera but it does happen in real life: Leona Helmsley gave almost all her money to her dog. The New York City Real Estate tycoon who made headlines in the 1980s for tax evasion and her icy demeanor upon her death willed the vast majority of her multi-million dollar estate to another bitch, her dog named Trouble.
The dog who once appeared in print ads for the Helmsley Hotels chain earned her name for biting a housekeeper. When the dog dies she’ll be cremated and buried in Leona’s mausoleum, where the happy family’s tomb will be maintained by being washed and steam cleaned at least once a year by her estate.
iBeat Blaxx? TrekStor, the German electronics company came out last week with a terribly named mp3 player has stood it’s ground and so far refused to modify the unsettling name. Next thing you’ll see other players in their line- the iBeat Women, iBeat Gays and iBeat Off.
Also, Sexist Monkeys harass Kenyan villagers, Apple Computer kow-tows to anorexic activists and yet another Republican Senator gets caught with his pants down.
More fruits and nuts than a breakfast buffet- Feast of Fools.
