We had a great time hanging out with our friends and fans at Gay Days at Disneyland in California. It’s incredible that the time has passed so quickly in our two week California tour.
Where did the time go?
Gay Days is a celebration and get together of queer folks who decide unofficially to attend Disneyland wearing red t-shirts. Sound familiar?
I felt like we were surrounded by all our California listeners, as the average attendance for the event is equal to the number of people who listen to the show in a week– 40,000 or so.
Listen as Sal-E, Marc Felion and me your blue fairy Fausto Fernós chat on a park bench in Frontierland about the modernist design style of vintage rides such as “The Enchanted Tiki Bird Room”, “It’s a Small World After All”, and “Space Mountain.”
It’s really remarkable that a visionary like Walt Disney was able to infuse his inspired view of entertainment and theme parks that wasn’t just a shock ride but a place for people of all ages to connect through fantasy and art.
Almost 50 years later some of the rides at Disneyland remain untouched and true to their original vision. Sitting in the Tiki Bird Room is like taking a trip back in time to when America was fascinated with Polynesian culture and mechanical birds ruled the world.
A place where your hot fantasies come true- Feast of Fools.
