What a cutie pie! The irrestitably handsome, talented and crush-worthy Brett Chukerman joins us on today’s show to talk about his brand new movie “The Curiostiy of Chance,” directed by Russell P. Marleau.
If you love the John Hughes films of the 80s but always thought they needed a little gay fun in them, be sure to check out “The Curiostiy of Chance.” Set in what is supposed to be the 1980s “somwhere in Europe” the film tries to have it both ways, by having a openly gay teenager (played by heart-meltingly-cute Tad Hilgenbrink) struggle with being an exchange student in a new school overseas.
Despite it’s awkward setting, the two male leads make you quickly forget any of the films flaws and gets you to start to focus on their budding friendship and wishing they would just shut up and kiss already.
Brett Chukerman plays the “jock” in the movie who befriends Chance Marquis (played by Tad Hilgenbrink) and decides to stand up to the bullies at school.
You might remember Brett in the hilarious gay teen sex romp “Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds” where he shared the screen with Jim Verraros and Mink Stole.
Despite Brett’s impressive acting resume in gay themed films, he says he’s not gay. But he is 1000% cool with gay roles, even kissing a guy on screen, and he thinks straight guys in Hollywood need to get over their own fear of playing these types of roles. See him play different gay characters through the years below in “Gay Flirt, from Undressed” “Eating Out 2″ and “Crush.”
After all, Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger both got Oscar nominations for their debut roles as gay men. Brett’s been doing it since he was 18. Click here to check him out in my personal favorite short film “Crush” directed by Feast of Fools listener and “Eating Out 1 and 2″ director Phillip J Bartell.
Listen as we talk with Brett about what it’s like to shoot a movie in Europe, separating your own identity with your roles as an actor, getting naked metaphorically (and physically) in front of the camera and how he keeps in shape and looking good.
Brett will be in Chicago on Sunday November 18th as part of the Closing Night Celebration of Reeling, the Chicago Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival. Why don’t you join us? Click here to get tickets for film, pre-party and after-party.
