Forget about debating weather or not Jesus was gay. We have a much better god for you to get on your knees for, the Chinese Taosit rabbit god Ta Yeh.
According to legend, in 18th-century China a gay man was killed for cruising a ruling official in the bathroom. The greater gods took pity on him and made him a rabbit god.
Because he’s not too popular of a deity, people worship him hoping the Rabbit God will have more time to listen to their prayers and deliver the man of their dreams. He’s like the ugly girl at the prom who will put out at the end of the night because she’s starved for attention.
Although we brought Ta Yeh up in show #643 “Move Over,” we’d figure we’d bring him up again to introduce one of the internet’s biggest gay Asian bloggers, Ernie Hsiung.
Ernie began his blog as a way of dealing with family relations including having an older sister that suffers from psychophrenia.
His blog “Little, Yellow, Different” and his group blog “8Asians” are now some of the most celebrated and well-read of their kind. “Little, Yellow, Different” has won multiple awards including three times for “Best GLBT” blog and once for “Blog of the Year.” Ernie certainly has made his mark on the internet.

On a sad note, we’re sorry to announce that Oscar nominated actor Heath Ledger, well known for his iconic role in the gay classic film “Brokeback Mounain” died yesterday at the tragically young age of 28.
The positive impact of Heath Ledger’s performance in “Brokeback Mountain” touched so many people’s hearts and minds. He will be forever remembered. Goodbye Aussie Knight.

School and such… I always try and find time to listen to the podcasts asap and it always brightens up my day. It’s a real pity about Heath ledger, we are having a mini memorial with a few of my friends tomorrow. Well basically getting together to watch Brokeback… Good film… Anyway.. Thanks for the show.

When I was a child, I had to listen to her crazy expressions, like: “You kids leave such a mess around the house, I wonder if it’s just easier to set the whole place on fire.” Or when I didn’t like what was for dinner: “Eat up. It’s better than poison.” And my favourite, when the pet dog was misbehaving: “Be good, Rambo, or I’ll stick you in the oven.” I guess some things are just better left untranslated.

January 24, 2008 at 09:47Great show guys!!! I frequently find the perspective of children raised by immigrant parents to be both colorful and hilarious. I had lots of asian friends as a kid since as Ernie alluded it’s almost a requirement to play an instrument if you’re chinese. Some of my friends spoke only English in the home, others only another language, and my best friend listened to her parents in Taiwanese but answered them in English. Fausto, growing up in PR how was your experience different? When did you learn English? Were both languages spoken in your home? You mentioned that the more you speak English the worse your Spanish gets…do you miss speaking Spanish or fear losing your fluency?
