Osaka Hernandez had a huge following in Japan. If Selena was the “Madonna” of Tejano music, then Osaka was considered to be the “Cyndi Lauper.” Okay Osaka was a fabulous drag queen and never sang any conjunto music, but it makes a great introduction, doesnt it?
On todays show, our lovely New York City pal John Q Sanchez talks about his former life as Osaka Hernandez, his years of experience writing about weddings, chocolate fountains, open bars, and his fascination with Shelley Long’s movie “Troop Beverly Hills.”
Pictured on the right is the “Tippi Headren” wedding dress that John talked about on the show. For those of you who want to see the obscene cotton candy-chocolate fountain pics, click here.
Although our Meet N’ Greet is officially on Thursday April 13th from 7-9pm at the Starlight Bar, we’re planning to attend the night before the ThisisAdam queer networking cocktail hour, and then heading on to RUNT to hang out with short gay men. Runt is being promoted as a “gay night for short queer men and their admirers.” John says that tons of female to male trannies hang out at this event (since they are naturally short guys themselves.) Will we see you there?

March 20, 2008 at 08:07Ciao Fausto and Marc,
Just a quick note to ask if you plan to do a show on Arthur C. Clarke\’s death. According to Toby Johnson (who you might know from Austin - owner of Liberty books), he was gay and Toby had a correspondence with him over a number of years. It would be so cool if you could interview Toby about this. Here\’s Toby\’s website:http://www.tobyjohnson.com/ and here\’s a page just written by Toby on Arthur C. Clarke http://www.tobyjohnson.com/arthurcclarke.html
Love you guys! Come visit us in Bologna (Home to THE JUICIEST AND TASTIEST ITALIAN SAUSAGE!!)
