We got your fill of diva-licious podcasting today as Jenniphre Zias is in the house! One half of the country duo The Shaker Sisters comes to talk about their brand new album “All Night Through” a delicious assortment of strong female torch songs set to a snappy zydeco-inspired sound. Jenniphre and Robyn Monks met in college and have wanted to put this album out for a long time. We’re glad they finally did.
Who were there men in Jenn and Robyn’s lives who inspired the hilarious song “It’s Not That Hard?” Would you believe that they came very close to not including the song in album at all? Sometimes it’s that short little afterthought of a song that becomes an unexpected hit.
Because we love you this much, we’re giving away the song for FREE on tomorrow’s Feast Blast, which you can only get by subscribing to our weekly e-mail mini-magazine.
Jenniphre was all too happy to give us a Henrietta Chicken to play with. Make sure to thank her for all the lovely sounds it makes.

Easter has come and gone, so what have you done? We spent it dying blown out eggs. For some crazy reason Marc and Jen can’t imagine Hispanic people (mostly Mexicans) making cascarones, confetti-filled dyed eggs during Easter. On the same level I personally find forcing children to hunt after hard boiled eggs covered in tacky shrink wrapped eggs to be a terrible idea.
Living as a pre-teen in Puerto Rico at the time of my parents divorce my mom struggled to make sense of her changing world by taking us to a Liberal Episcopalian Church in the suburbs of San Juan. On Easter, I loved tweaking out on jelly beans, chocolate rabbits and gumdrops on Easter Sunday. Easter and Christmas = CANDY.
The terrible thing about the annual egg hunt was that many of the parishioners didn’t have any children, so they reluctantly boiled eggs and wrapped them in this freaky plastic wrap just to go through the motions, which in a tropical lawn attracted ants and made smelled awful in the warm sunlight.
Fortunately, my mom and all of the kids back home blew out the insides of the eggs and dyed some beautiful assortments of eggs with food coloring and crayon. To this day my mother still has some of them in her home in Austin Texas.
Please don’t crucify yourself this Easter! The Philippines government has issued an Easter public heath warning, on the dangers of self-crucifixion. It seems some overzealous Jesus-freaks in the Asian country love to ACTUALLY nail themselves to a wooden cross every spring as a way of understanding what Jesus went through 2008 years ago, more or less.
Meanwhile in merry olde England, a hotel chain has started offering condoms, lube and sex-toys in the mini bar as a way of promoting pleasure and safe sex in their hotel rooms. When will the Hilton, Double-Tree and Mariott adopt this? If American hotel chains are serious about reducing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, they will all at the very least offer lube and condoms in every hotel room, like Steamworks already does for free.
And in case you didn’t already know, REM frontman Michael Stipe, well known for his hit songs “Man on the Moon” and “Losing My Religion” came out officially, legit as a 100% gay man. This leaves us all to ponder if there ever was a time when anyone considered Michael Stipe to be anything other than a flaming pole vaulter.
The strange thing about Michael Stipe announcing he’s gay is that not too recently he’s appeared in Butt magazine talking about his man-on-man sexual relationships. If this is what he considers being in the closet, this guy needs a serious reality check.
So of course we had to compare him to Liberace, because the bejeweled Las Vegas musician because the man spent his entire life denying his gay identity, despite his overwhelming life of glamorous decadence, gay lovers and outrageous costumes.
The podcast that has that sparkle magic in every bite- Feast of Fools.
