At the Hotel Mark TwainIf you’re looking for gold in San Francisco, you can find it in the hearts and minds of every creative spirit that resides in the city, and in the warm hospitality we’ve found at the Hotel Mark Twain.

Okay, maybe I’ve been huffing the fumes a bit, but we’re just tickled pink by the graciousness of Peaches Christ, Curtis Jensen and our newest discovery, the director of Sales for the Hotel Mark Twain, Kevin Thomas.

icon-KevinThomasKevin is your on-air concierge to share ideas on what to do, where to go and where to stay when traveling to the gayest city in America, San Francisco.

Kevin works as the director of Sales for the Hotel Mark Twain, and he’s fabulous! Listen as we talk about what makes the City by the Bay so wonderfully gay and why Billie Holiday loved coming to this fabulous place.

Restaurants you will love, undiscovered secrets and out of the way places to make your visit fabulous.

What happens when you retire as head of a billion dollar software company? You make rigntones that help fight AIDS. If you can believe it, tech billionaire Bill Gates has launched a ringtone in India as a way of breaking down taboos. How does it do it? By screaming the phrase “condom, condom, condom!” repeatedly. I’m sure it makes some people blush, but in the long run it may break down the barriers on using this vital barrier to help reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

I’m excited that the new movie “Milk” is coming soon to theaters, starring the ever-sexy Sean Penn and Trannyshack fan James Franco. Did we mention there are full nude scenes (with prostehtic wangs) in the movie? Still, some locals in San Francisco are getting anxious over the media attention, saying that they are worried that San Francisco will turn into another tacky destination full of gawking tourists.

A scorned woman is selling her cheating husband’s dirty laundry on eBay. In the spiteful listing, the jilted woman is auctioning off a picture of a pair of lacy black underpants “size humongous” and an empty condom wrapper “size small” found in her bed after her husband allegedly engaged in an extramarital affair with a woman named Kylie. Click here to see the EBay listing.

If you’ve had a rough life and it’s your time to go, wouldn’t you want to be buried horizontally? A Puerto Rican man has been granted his last wish - to remain standing, even after death.

Special embalming treatment was used on the corpse of 24-year-old Angel Pantoja Medina to keep him on his feet for his three-day wake. I’m sure that must have been a sight to see the guy standing upright, dressed in his favorite Yankee basball cap, mourned by relatives while being propped upright in the family living room.

and the man who’s last dying wish was to be kept upright for three days.

How do you spell fabulous? F-O-F.

  • One theory I heard about the reason San Francisco and New York became GLBT magnets is because they were the 2 places that during World War 2, Korean War, and Vietnam War the military would discharge gay soldiers. So people would be drafted from all over the country and what happens when you take a bunch of young men together… so when they would discharge soldiers for being gay, they would drop them off in SF or NY depending on the region of conflict (war). These soldiers didn’t want to return home as their family may not have wanted them around… Just one historical reason.

    See you boys tonight.

  • Kevin was a delight! I hope you do have him on for another show.

Glad you guys are having such a great trip! And relieved to hear that the Hotel Mark Twain in SF is NOT affiliated with the Mark Twain Hotel in Chicago…. ;)

  • ohmygod, i’m seriously beginning to wonder if my mom smokes pot!

  • I enjoyed the show with Kevin a lot!

Really want to travel to San Francisco when I have time.

  • Kevin was awesome. Loved this show!

  • Kevin Thomas was great! Keep it up Kevin.

    Terry (from London)

  • Terry - you’ll have to write to me at the hotel about London fun acitivites - I hope to go there in November, December or January even though the dollar sucks - kevin@hotelmarktwain.com.

  • Kevin- set up a Feats of Fools profile so we can see your pretty face! Peaches has one.

  • Marc - if you want me to do a Feast of Fools profile just to have one then let me know. Don’t use the guise of “see my face” as it’s plastered all over the two shows I was on.
On another note, since I am going to San Diego to see “Memphis” for my new report to you guys about musicals, I tried to get to see a rehearsal of Dolly Parton’s new musical “9 to 5″ - but they said no. It’s very hush hush I hear. Maybe one day I’ll fly to LA for the day just to see the show as it opens 2 days after I leave Southern California!

  • I’m not trying to be deceptive. I want to see your face next to your comments. It’s just the way it is around here. I hope you understand.

  • Great show guys! Kevin was an absolute delight! Made me homesick to catch up with all that is new in the City on the bay!
