Bill Stewart on the Feast of Fools podcastDing dong, somebody’s getting married on today’s Feast of Fools, could it be you? We’ve got a blue light special on gay marriage as we talk to Bill Stewart, K-Mart’s former Chief Marketing Officer who left his job and lucrative salary to campaign full time on his own dime to maintain marriage equality in California.

Stewart made the decision to change careers after attending a GLAAD national board meeting in Los Angeles in early June regarding the looming threat to same-sex marriage.

Listen as we talk with Bill about how we’re fighting to protect gay marriage and why it’s so important for you to get involved.

Say NO to EIGHT in NOVEMBER!You can help by raising awareness and money for the cause and please, if you live in California vote No to Prop 8 in November. We can win this very important victory but we need everybody to help out.

And of course, Bill did work for K-Mart, so what I want to know is, what are Jacklyn Smith and Martha Stewart REALLY like?

Paris and Britney for McCainJohn McCain Can’t let go of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton as ads on this very site tout the girls and ask “Who is the biggest celebrity?” The link of course takes you to an ad that proudly proclaims Obama as the world’s biggest celebrity.

College Presidents are begging lawmakers to lower drinking age to 18. They figure kids are drinking anyway so why not make it legal?

I think Matthew Mitcham should get his own cereal, I'd eat it every day.Now in supermarket shelves everywhere, we can be treated to seeing Olympic superstud Michael Phelps on a Kellogg’s box of corn flakes. Yummy! Now that’s good eating.

But what about openly gay Aussie hottie, and gold-medal upset Matthew Mitcham? Doesn’t he get to be on a box of cereal too? I know everyone is thinking “put him on a box of Fruit Loops” but that’s kind of disrespectful. I think he’d be great on the healthier Fruity Cheerios instead. If I ever win an Olympic Olympic medal, I’d like to be on the box of Trix.

More fruits and nuts than a bowl of cereal- Feast of Fools.

  • So, we’re twitdating. Now that I’ve discovered your site and how funny, irreverent and political it is, I will definitely be back. In fact, I think we should consider linkdating. What do you think?

If I may, I’d also like to turn your attention to a political contest I’m running w/a bit of an edge that your readers might dig. Perhaps you’ll consider enterting and, or cross-posting? Spill.

Here’s the link: McC**t Essay Contest

Regardless, I look forward to seeing you in the twit-blogosphere’s respectively.
    Katie-

  • Hey girlfriend, what are you talking about? You know there are easier ways to promote your blog.

  • Nice show guys, by the way.

  • Very good show guys, the stories about gay partners were so sad, i really hope the people in CA understand what they are doing and great way in changing the description of the proposition.

Oh btw Marc, i do not remember if i have told you this but i LOVE the way you laugh, it is so contagious :oD

  • SuperBoy, (ps) love the icon. I actually wasn’t trying to promote my blog. I was interested in the fine folks at feast of fools and their liberal readership to consider submitting to my lil’ essay contest. Hey, winners get free Bojamacakes (cupcakes) by one diva pastry chef delivered to their home.

    Have a fabulous day,
    Katie

  • Hey Katie! That’s a great idea. I would also recommend posting the notice in the forums:

    http://www.feastoffools.net/community

  • Very sad news! — Lesbian rights pioneer Del Martin dies.

‘Del Martin, a lesbian rights pioneer who took part in one of California’s first same-sex weddings, died today in San Francisco after a long period of declining health. She was 87…”Her last act of activism was her most personal - marrying the love of her life,” said Kate Kendell, a long-time friend of the couple and executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights…’

Incidentally, I am going to my first “No On 8 Campaign” meeting in San Jose tonight :-(

  • Well at least she died a married woman.

  • Call me crazy but how do you call yourself United States when every state has it’s own law and view of gay marriage. Hey I may live in a country where we find feet at our shores but at least I can marry a man.

PS I love to listen to your podcast on my bike ride to work. Ever thought of having an airline sponsor your trips ?

  • Thank you for bringing Bill Stewart on the podcast. I admire his dedication to the most important vote I believe next to the Presidential election this fall. Everyone needs to do their part to defeat Prop. 8. The other side is extremely organized and loud. Donations are needed! Also, anywhere you can voice your opinion or write it, do it! We need to win this one! Bill, Thank you for your hard work and example!
