Jann Klose sings in the home studio on the Feast of Fools podcast

Let’s get a little bit Kloser, don’t be shy. The German born, African raised Jann Klose is here in the home studio and he looks and sounds like a dream.

Jann just dropped by the home studio to visit with us while he was in town to play at a tribute to musician Jeff Buckley who tragically died in a drowning accident in 1997.

We love to play Jann Klose’s song “The Strangest Thing” on our show because of the odd/far out news angles we like to feature on the show. It really feels like the song was written just for us.

Jann was born in Germany but grew up in Nairobi, Kenya and South Africa. He also lived in Cleveland as an exchange student while a teenager. It was while living in CLevelad that he grew to really appreciate music and laid the ground work for the musician he is today. He later performed in musical theater in such shows as Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Jann Klose and his friend Lars Potteiger on the Feast of Fools podcastListen as Jann and his friend Lars Potteiger play some of their great hit songs in the home studio including “The Strangest Thing” and “Doing Time” from his new album “Reverie.”

Join us as we tlak with Jann as about whether cheetahs attack people just like lions, the influence of Jeff Buckley’s music and where’s the best place to meet musicians for collaboration.

FUN is our show’s middle name. Feast of Fools: Gay Fun Show.

  • Oooh Lars is a hot cub…

  • Thanks guys for this episode. I really enjoy your podcasts, particularly when you have musical guests on

ps. where are those shirtless pics of Qboy?

  • LOL, are you guys really that ethnocentric? Africa really isn’t as wild and savage as you seem to believe, and there are definitely no leopards prowling around my backyard :).

Miriam Makeba (who, btw, is an absolute legend) was quite right when she said, “People in the United States still have a ‘Tarzan’ movie view of Africa. We [too] watch television and listen to the radio and go to dances and fall in love.”

She also said, “You can make all the laws you want, but you cannot change people’s ways.” It’s true that South Africa has one of the most amazing and advanced constitutions in the world and every freedom and human right you can think of, but we still have a great deal of homophobia, xenophobia, racism, sexism, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I personally only know of one married gay couple :(.

Anyway, I enjoyed today’s guest and I love “The Strangest Thing,” it always gets stuck in my head. I never realised it was about what it was actually about, but now it all makes sense. That was really interesting.

  • This was a delightful show. Jann is amazing!

  • Great show, great interview and great music guys. You have the greatest photos of all your guests, nice work!

  • Jann’s face in the iTunes podcast photo reminds me of Liev Schreiber…or is it just me?

  • Fantastic! Any chance we can get “Doing Time” in the Feast Blast?

  • Fun show, yet again guys!
Miriam Makeba is so great, I was alone in the car last week when I heard that she had passed away, and was so sad. Been listening to her records all over again this week. You should all check out her big hit song Pata Pata, it is such a happy song, and you can hear the clicks in whatever language she is singing in. (Xhosa? I don’t know.) Or get The Click Song or Ring Bell, she has so many great songs.

  • Big fan of Miriam Makeba here too! :) Mama Afrika, I love you.

  • In Marc and Fausto’s defense, they aren’t necessarily being ethnocentric when they’re asking about leopards in Africa; they’re being the mouthpiece for those listeners who are not necessarily informed about life in Africa. By asking the question and getting the answer, the audience becomes better informed. :-)

  • Thanks Rhea but a cougar was just shot and killed in the city of Chicago in the springtime. I’m sure there is some funky stuff going on in Africa but yes, we were exaggerating a bit.

  • I see your point Rhea. I guess I’m sometimes confused about what to take seriously, especially since there are a heck of a lot of people who genuinely think that. My friends and I have had to answer a lot absurd questions while travelling, but we find it quite hilarious.

  • I just listened to this show, getting caught up on some past episodes. What a phenomenal talent Jann is! Thanks for having him on.
