FOFA #685 - Peaches Christ Will Save You - 06.08.08
By Marc Felion on June 8, 2008
WWPCW? What Would Peaches Christ Watch? A campy horror film with lots of gratuitous sex, violence and wild women on the verge of insanity, of course!
Brainchild of filmmaker Joshua Grannell, Peaches Christ is well known in San Francisco for the 10-year-running Midnight Mass movie events where drag queens perform tacky skits before the screening of a campy feature film.
The hilarious, insane and loosely scripted performances with outrageous costumes (check out her film-dress here) hark back to the hippie Cockette shows of the late 1960s. Peaches is our kind of gal!
Don’t let the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence inspired eye make-up fool you. Peaches Christ is dead serious about her love of film and the success of Midnight Mass is a testament to her passion for great movies and the value of a gay sensibility.
Like our friend Curtis Jensen says, Peaches is a guardian of our culture: “Peaches is presenting a forum for the screening of these films that have always had a special layer of meaning for Queer audiences. I see her as a the queer equivalent of the Cinematheque in Paris, where for years film enthusiasts could be educated about film. She is educating a new generation of queers about the rich cultural heritage of camp and cult film.”
So much in fact that in 2007, Peaches Christ celebrated the ten year anniversary of Midnight Mass with guest appearances by John Waters, Elvira, and Tura Satana. Campy celebrities love Peaches.
So kids, grab a bucket of popcorn and take notes! Class is in session.
Join Marc Felion and me Fausto Fernós as we talk with Peaches about some of the sickest, wildest and most hilarious movies of all time. What does Peaches think about such fabulous films like:
• Valley of the Dolls
• Beyond the Valley of the Dolls
• Mommie Dearest
• Showgirls
• The Bad Seed
• The Women

The internet is changing us in significant new ways. This past year at IML, the International Mr. Leather Expo in Chicago, there was an air of openness and comfort that I have never seen before.
I guess after everyone saw the 2 Girls 1 Cup gross out video, nothing is too shocking or extreme anymore. Your […]

Why Mask?

We like to joke that the masking fetish is really for lazy trannies who don’t want to go through the trouble of putting on make up. It’s fun to say but it may not be true.
Everyone Forever described the desire for masking as “from the wearer’s point of view, the mask provides an opportunity […]

I simply can’t stop looking at Maskon.com, one of my all-time favorite websites.
Mask-on is a support site dedicated to trannies who like to “mask.” “Maskers” enjoy cross-dressing as women by using masks instead of make-up to create the illusion.
They don’t really try to fool anyone into thinking they are actual flesh and bones women, but […]

IML, the International Mr. Leather conference came and went last week here in Chicago and we’re still recovering from the dizzying hurricane of leathermen, human dogs, bondage queens, otters, bears and furries!
There was two of every kind, and then some at this sexual menagerie of all kinds of fetishes last weekend.
The colorful sexual diversity […]

Some of the most popular queer content found online and in traditional media is our collective fascination with famous actors, musicians and public figures. Why do gay men obsess on it so, and why does this type of content so appealing?
On today’s show writer and former drag queen Josh Kilmer-Purcell, well known for his best […]

Ben’s back in town to perform at Mary’s Attic this Friday and Saturday and we highly recommend the show.
We chat with Ben about his FAME moment when he started posing for “artistic” photos and wound up naked with only his ukelele to cover his manhood.
Madonna’s was awfully courageous to do a collaboration with Justin Timberlake, […]
