Think Pink! Queen of the Internet, fashion model and indie musician Jeffree Star joins us today for an interview about his new single “Heart Surgery Isn’t That Bad” and his tour across the U.S.
Since the young age of 15, Jeffree began blogging and posting haunting photos of himself in makeup. Six years later and at the still tender age of 21, Jeffree’s online popularity has grown to make him the most friended gay man on the social network site MySpace.
We reckon that with over 750,000 people added to his profile in the past five years he’s added an average of 400 people a day. Jeffree is so high up in the Myspace profile ranks that he gets special privileges. Listen to the show find out what you are missing out on with your measly 4,435 friends.
Everybody wants to be Jeffree’s friend, even the people who hate him so they can give him some grief.
Browsing through his photos you can see not everyone likes his style. Some passionately attack him for his Cindy Sherman-like narcissistic photography. I think they’re just jealous cause he’s pinker and prettier than they are.
The phenomena of Jeffree’s fame is interesting to examine. Some say he is famous for doing nothing but this queen is a hard working man. Jeffree, like us, represents a new generation of media personalities that are developing a massive audience by choice and on their own terms.
The pink-haired fashionista is also busy leveraging his celebrity into new career opportunities including a reality tv show and a perfume and clothing line.
Unlike straight identified men like David Bowie, Jeffree is loud, proud and in your face. Last year during a Pride Festival concert, a couple in the front row were flipping the bird and throwing beer bottles at Jeffree and his back-up dancers. Jeffree stopped his set and got into a fist fight with the couple.
I asked my other performer friends about this and everyone responded in admiration for Jeffree’s aggressive stance for standing up for himself. You go girl!
Is Jeffree Star the new face of the NRA?
In order to vent frustration and anger, Jeffree likes to go to the firing range and pump the shooting dummies full of lead. Everybody run, this drag queen has got a gun.
So will we see drag-queens, club kids and gansta rappers all converge into a new music genre? I certainly hope so. The idea of P. Diddy and Jeffree Star doing an album together sounds wonderful. And if you don’t treat him with respect, he’ll put a cap in your ass!
Listen as Jeffree Star shares with us his secret techniques for getting famous on MySpace, stalking Alcoholic Anonymous meetings, dealing with haters and commits to joining Madonna and Gene Simmons as a celebrity who licenses his face to sell condoms.
Jeffrey also promises to put us in his top friends on MySpace. Will he deliver? I don’t know but the email is feastoffools@gmail.com in case he forgets.
