Well, we didn’t make the list of the Internet’s Top 25 Celebrities, but you new that already didn’t you? That awful bore New Zealand-born actress Jessica Rose who portrayed Bree, a 16-year-old home-schooled American teenager who videoblogged under the name Lonelygirl15 took the number onespot.
I only heard about her videos after they were exposed as a scam so maybe I came a little late to the party, but when I got there I was bored and wondered who watched this crap? If it weren’t for the extensive media coverage of this story about being “exposed” as a scam nobody would care about it at all.
It was good to see gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton take spot number two although they only outed him as the “Queen of Mean.” I thought he was the “Queen of All Media.” Oh well, I suppose you can be both.
The really good news is that, although we didn’t get picked as Internet Celebrities, quite a few our podcasting and videoblogging bretheren did get picked. It isn’t just the bloggers who are famous now, the second wave of “casters” is coming on strong. Ask a Ninja, Amanda Congdon, Violet Blue and Ze Frank made the list. Keep your fingers crossed, pray to a podcast god and show a friend how to subscribe to the podcast and maybe next year we’ll be there. —Marc Felion
