May 2, 2007 at 08:46What’s interesting for me about this clip are (1) the obvious sexual innuendos, from the band’s punctuation of her statements, the audience’s response, and the splattering of English, (2) the wonderful acceptance of both Urdu and English as equally communicative. This is supposed to be ‘bad’ in academic fields, but since most anybody who speaks two languages does that incessantly anyway, I love it. If you like this clip, don’t miss checking out some Bollywood movies. They ARE long, but they’re a visual delight AND they too incessantly interchange Hindi and English.

Have you seen ‘Devdas’? It was the first role that really gave Aishwarya Rai international recognition.
It went to Cannes back in 2002. If you haven’t seen it… find a way! The dancing is off the charts!
