“The Red Hand Gang” was a kids TV action-adventure series in the 70s, and by the looks of these credit sequences, it wasn’t as rough-and-tumble as the word “gang” in the title might make you think. “The Warriors” they ain’t. Still then, why is the title of the show written in blood?
Writes FoF pal Troy: “[’The Red Hand Gang’] reminds me that I grew up in a time when diversity meant that out of five kids, one was black (and smart) and one was a girl.” Note that the music’s a ripoff of the memorable theme from “Rhoda”. —John Q. Sanchez
John Q Sanchez lives in Brooklyn, New York. He went to art school with
Fausto Fernós in the mid-90s in Chicago where he wrote for local
publications including Babble, edited by Jim Pickett. He's worked at
several high-profile magazines in New York and was an editor for the
web-zine Blair. He's fascinated by oddball divas, bombastic child
stars, and the everyday person capturing their unique performances for
an online audience.
